Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speaking. She is the founder of Feminist Frequency which is a website that features videos and comments analyzing the portrayals of females in popular media. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic, blogger and award-winning feminist for nearly a decade. She is the founder and executive director of Feminist Frequency A scholarly not-for-profit website which explores representations of women within popular culture narratives. Dispelling stereotypes of women is her main focus. However, Sarkeesian also discusses issues of specific harassment of women on the internet and other minorities that are marginalized. A graduate in the field of political and social thinking at York University Sarkeesian is also well-known as a sought-after speaking engagement and has given speech at the TEDxWomen Festival and the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. Feminist Frequency was founded in the year 2009 by Sarkeesian. university student who has been involved in topics related to gender and feminism for quite a long time. The site was created by a woman in her early 20s determined to make the series of videos on the internet which would explore gender representations in video games. But, she was the target of cyber-bullying. This attack didn't stop her, rather it strengthened her determination as a feminist critic of media. To honor the numerous contributions she has made to feministism, she's recognized with numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic, has been awarded many awards, and also founded Feminist Frequency, an educational organization that focuses on the way women are depicted in popular culture narratives.
